Knitting ans Fabric shops in Dalston, London
Fabrications

Fabrications is a gallery, shop and studio dedicated to textiles and design. It is a particular favourite during the winter when people flock to buy wool to start knitting hats & scarves during the increasingly chilly

It is a cliché, but I can only describe Dalston Mills as an Aladdin's cave of fabrics.
They have an immense selection of fabrics from garish costume fabrics to delicate and elegant satins and lace, taking up every inch of the shop hidden at the end of Ridley Road Market
On top of all this, prices are very reasonable. There are few places I know where you have such wide choice without paying a fortune for that luxury.

They have such a big range of patterned wax prints - some BEAUTIFUL colours and themes going on.
Of all the places I saw in Dalston selling these kinds of fabric, I think this place has the biggest and the best range. And whilst they're expensive (and I think they bring in all the latest designs), I don't think they're THAT expensive. They'll only sell you them in big sizes, but then you can do what you want with the cuttings and snippings.

Afrique Fabriks is a lovely place to look around, if you're round these parts looking for some interesting prints

Kilim is a joy. And I'm going to wreck the thrill explaining why. From the outside, I thought it was a really kooky junk shop. And it kind of is. Certainly the window display is stacked full of tacky Jesus mirrors and religious memorabilia, jet black mannequins cleary borrowed from somewhere in Africa. I'm loving it.

Such a bright and vibrant little shop. Extremely inspiring, and full of too many things i want. What really caught my eye were some chunky turquoise knitting needles! Lucky me, my friend bought them as a christmas pressie, so i have to wait a bit, but they are worth it!
The staff seemed very friendly, and didn't mind me taking lots of photos.
